The Parent Centre regularly runs six-week group courses and two hour workshops throughout east central Scotland. Courses can also be arranged on an individual basis for families, parents, children, carergivers, schools and businesses. On-line courses are available for some of our courses. Telephone and email support is available by arrangement.

Coaching Young Children; Coaching 7-12-year-olds; Coaching Teenagers

These courses are for parents and carers with children in different age groups. They are also available online and cover a range of topics, including:

• Improving relationships


Developing Early Relationship
( Baby Cues & Emotional Coaching Workshops )

The workshops are for parents and caregivers of children 0-3 years, helping them to understand the emotional life of babies and small children. They look at the importance of the first three years of life - the time when the social brain is shaped and the emotional style and the emotional resources are established. They offer insight into the development of the baby's brain and the influence of the parent and caregiver on that brain development. They help parents and caregivers to become better observers of children. recognise how the caregiver's interactions promote a child's development and understand a child's feelings, behaviour and emotional needs. Suitable for parents, caregivers and service providers (Not available online)

Courses for 7-16 year olds

"Emotional Coaching" is a course for 7-14 year olds helping children to take control of their emotional and behavioural patterns. It includes communication, anger management and problem solving. “Taking charge of your life” is a six-week course for 15-16 year-olds. It includes social skills, conflict management and family relationships. These courses are suitable for children whose parents are attending a course and who are willing to be involved in improving their social skills and the relationships within the family. They are also suitable for children with Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD. Sessions arranged to suit your requirements. (Not available online)


Courses for Stepfamilies


Look at the complex challenges faced by parents and children in a stepfamily, includes resolution of family conflict, discipline and the blending of different lifestyles in one household. (Available on line)
